Meet the Team at Lake Dow Animal Hospital!
Marisa Craig DVM Marisa lives in McDonough with her husband Scott and two children Hailey and Reed. They enjoy spending weekends on Jackson Lake wakesurfing, wakeboarding, and kayaking. When not working or spending time with her family, Marisa enjoys working out at the gym, riding her bike, reading, and shopping (retail therapy). She has a golden retriever, two cats, and a small farm of cows, chickens, turkeys, and a horse. Marisa was born in Ohio, but moved to Atlanta in 1983. She attended the University of Georgia and received her bachelor's degree in animal health in 1994 and her DVM in 1997. While at UGA, she rode horses on the UGA Equestrian Team. She moved to McDonough after graduation. She opened Lake Dow Animal Hospital in 2008.
Dr Layla Smith Layla is a native of Fayetteville. She recieved a bachlor's degree from University of Georgia in biological sciences in 2004. After a few years working and finishing a masters degree in public health, she attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and recieved her degree in 2014. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her bassett hound, pit bull, reading, and traveling.
Meredith Lee Meredith started working at Lake Dow Animal Hospital shortly after it opened in 2008 as a high school student. She has stayed with us and advanced from kennel assistant to her current position as veterinary assistant. She has a yorkie named Jasmine and a baby blue tongue skink lizard. Her favorite activities include four wheeling and kayaking.
Jennifer Person After graduating with an associates degree in Secretarial Law from Braelin College, Jennifer worked in the legal field for six years. Her passion has always been caring for animals and she decided to work in veterinary medicine as a technician in 1999. She has over seventeen years in experience, and has been with Lake Dow Animal Hospital since 2010. She strives to keep our patients not only healthy but happy when they visit. She shares her home with two beautiful cats, Nina and Nelly, that she rescued. In her spare time, she enjoys movies, music, cooking, and kickboxing.
Christina Norton Christina began at Lake Dow Animal Hospital as a high school intern in 2009. She stayed with us after high school and has advanced from kennel assitant to receptionist. Christina is now happily married to her husband Chase. She is a proud stepmom to a little boy named Brayden and her daughter Lyleigh. They have two pitbulls, Chevy and Ava and a pekingese, Lacy. In her free time, Christina enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Shanna Cappo Shanna was born in Canton Georgia and moved to Locust Grove four years ago with her husband Steven and two children Sydney and Landon. She has worked with animals for ten years and joined us at Lake Dow Animal Hospital in 2015. She enjoys spending time with her family, four chihuhuas and three cats.
Jamie Stubelt Jamie stated with LDAH in December of 2016. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 2014. She is currently enrolled with Penn Foster College obtaining her associate's degree as a Veterinary Technician. Jamie plans to obtain a Wildlife Rehabilitation licence in the future. Her household includes everything from cats and dogs, to fish and turtles.
Margaret Bermudez Margaret Joined LDAH in June 2017. She graduated from Georgia State in 2016 with a B.S. in Biology and is an EMT. Margaret is actively pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine. She has 1 dog, Joey, and a couple of farm animals (ducks, goats, and chickens). Her hobbies include kayaking, camping, hiking, and travel along with cooking and baking.
Hailey Craig Hailey is the daughter of Dr. Marisa Craig. She is 16 years old and is a Junior at Ola High School. She has officially been working here since April 2017, but has always been hanging around the clinic. She plans on going to college to be a Veterinarian and
one day taking over the family business.
Mark Hildebran Mark is a registered veterinary technician and has over 20 years experience. He joined us in 2015. He has a daughter, numerous dogs, and a 250 pound pet pig (ok, maybe more like 350lbs). He enjoys falconry and spending time with his family and friends.
