Meet the Team at Lake Dow Animal Hospital!
Marisa Craig DVM Marisa lives in McDonough with her husband Scott and two children Hailey and Reed. They enjoy spending weekends on Jackson Lake wakesurfing, wakeboarding, and kayaking. When not working or spending time with her family, Marisa enjoys working out at the gym, riding her bike, reading, and shopping (retail therapy). She has golden retrievers, a cat, and a small farm of Belted Galloway "oreo" cows. Marisa was born in Ohio, but moved to Atlanta in 1983. She attended the University of Georgia and received her bachelor's degree in animal health in 1994 and her DVM in 1997. While at UGA, she rode horses on the UGA Equestrian Team. She moved to McDonough after graduation. She opened Lake Dow Animal Hospital in 2008.
Dr Layla Smith Layla is a native of Fayetteville. She recieved a bachlor's degree from University of Georgia in biological sciences in 2004. After a few years working and finishing a masters degree in public health, she attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and recieved her degree in 2014. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her bassett hound, pit bull, reading, and traveling.
Meredith Lee Meredith started working at Lake Dow Animal Hospital shortly after it opened in 2008 as a high school student. She has stayed with us and advanced from kennel assistant to her current position as veterinary assistant. She has a yorkie named Jasmine and a baby blue tongue skink lizard. Her favorite activities include four wheeling and kayaking.
Jennifer Person After graduating with an associates degree in Secretarial Law from Braelin College, Jennifer worked in the legal field for six years. Her passion has always been caring for animals and she decided to work in veterinary medicine as a technician in 1999. She has over seventeen years in experience, and has been with Lake Dow Animal Hospital since 2010. She strives to keep our patients not only healthy but happy when they visit. She shares her home with two beautiful cats, Nina and Nelly, that she rescued. In her spare time, she enjoys movies, music, cooking, and kickboxing.
Mark Hildebran Mark is a registered veterinary technician and has over 20 years experience. He joined us in 2015. He has a daughter, numerous dogs, and a 250 pound pet pig (ok, maybe more like 350lbs). He enjoys falconry and spending time with his family and friends.
Christina Norton Christina began at Lake Dow Animal Hospital as a high school intern in 2009. She stayed with us after high school and has advanced from kennel assitant to receptionist. Christina is now happily married to her husband Chase. She is a proud stepmom to a little boy named Brayden and has two daughters of her own, Lyleigh and Scarlett. They have two pitbulls, Chevy and Ava and a pekingese, Lacy and two cats, Lexi and Mia. In her free time, Christina enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Michelle Cain Michelle started working at LakeDow in October,2019 Michelle has 2 kids and 3 adorable grandkids. In her off time she loves going to the beach and the gym.
Carly Carly started working at Lake Dow Animal Hospital in October 2019. Carly lives on her family's farm with lots of cows and three donkeys!! She is currently enrolled in college and plans to go to nursing school after finishing her core classes. She has a yellow lab named Gunner, and two cats, Oliver and Boo. In her free time, Carly enjoys spending time with family and friends
Hailey Craig Hailey is the daughter of Dr. Marisa Craig. She is 18 years old and is a Sophomore at Berry College studying pre-veterinary medicine. She has officially been working here since April 2017, but has always been hanging around the clinic. She plans on going to graduate school to become a Veterinarian and one day taking over the family business.
Gwen Bailey Gwen has been working as a Kennel Assistant since November 2017. She is currently attending school to become a Veterinary Technician. In her free time she enjoys painting, drawing, and spending time with her family.
Audrey McGee Audrey McGee was hired as a kennel assistant in December of 2019. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. In her free time, she likes to do creative projects, watch movies and make music. She plans to get a degree in Chemistry and eventually go to Vet School.
Miranda Young Miranda has been working at Lake Dow Animal Hospital since the summer of 2014. She is currently a senior at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College majoring in biology and hopes to attend vet school after graduating. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family and dog Kaizer.
